It isn’t just the students and urban professionals who are protesting the regime. Labor unrest continues at the huge gasoline refinery in Abadan, and now Radio Farda reports that workers are protesting at a tire plant near Tehran and a major petrochemical facility in Tabriz.
Like the refinery construction workers, the tire workers are protesting that their wages have not been paid. A small number of workers demonstrated at the Alborz tire plant in Eslamshahr (pictured) on March 2, one day after the major street protests in Tehran, Esfahan and other cities.
Hundreds protested at the Alborz plant on February 28 and at least 300 protested on February 26.
The Iranian Labor News Agency reported that some 1,800 workers at a petrochemical plant in Tabriz protested the non-renewal of their contracts.
