The Islamic Republic is treating Iranians with curly hair as potential threats to public order, and ordered their dispersal at a recent public gathering.
Payvand is reporting that the MooFerferia Facebook group called on its members to get together at a Tehran park on January 26 to celebrate their curly hair. MooFerferia means “curly haired ones” in Persian.
The group had no political agenda. Police immediately dispersed them.
MooFerferia had 8,000 members on its Facebook network in late January 2011. [Update: As of March 2011, the group had nearly 10,000 fans].
